Here's some wisdom that your preaching and teaching can defnitely use:
You are the only one who can be YOU and get it right!
Oftentimes, we waste our ministry, teaching time and energy trying to be someone else—someone that we’re not.
We seem to accept the fact that we have been wired with very different communication styles and strengths. Yet, the struggle emerges when trying to define and embrace our own style!
Join CCN and two keenly gifted communicators and veteran preachers, Dave Stone and Rene Schlaepfer, to discover the freedom, power, joy and influence of being yourself in the pulpit—rather than a copy of someone else!
"Learn to play to your strengths, those styles which come most natural for you and improve on your weaknesses... And when you follow that natural inclination, empowered by His Spirit, then Satan had better watch out!" says Dave.
You'll learn how God has uniquely gifted every preacher and teacher—including you—by taking a closer look at these teaching styles:
- Storyteller
- Apologist
- Humorist
- Teacher
- Revolutionary
- Scholar
- Illustrator
- and more!
Are you analytical, logical or intellectual? Or are you emotional, creative and daring?
Whatever your style, Dave and Rene will help you keep it engaging and real! Discover how you can avoid the common traps of becoming cautious, predictable and boring by incorporating:
- Passion
- Personal experience
- Movement
- Risk
Find out how great your messages can be when YOU do the speaking!
Dave Stone has been preaching at the Southeast Christian Church for the past 18 years. In 2006, longtime pastor Bob Russell retired and passed the role of Senior Minister to Dave. Southeast is one of the largest churches in America with 18,000 attending their weekend worship services. Dave has been a speaker for regional and national conventions in thirty-five states, and his fifth and most recent book Refining Your Style was awarded the 2004 Book of the Year by Preaching Magazine.
Rene Schlaepfer is senior pastor at Twin Lakes Church near Santa Cruz, California — one of the least churched communities in the nation. René is a seasoned communicator to a wide variety of audiences. He has recently spoken at events in Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, San Diego, Mexico
and Mombasa, Kenya -- and before becoming a pastor René worked for several years in Top 40 radio and television as an on air personality and voice-over artist.
